HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following three scoreless innings with Stephen Bangs on the mound, the Ravens had a huge six-run fourth inning. Curt Boyd led off the inning, reaching on an error, followed by a Rafael Rodriguez Rosa single. A line out by Andreas Boglis sent Boyd home, putting the Ravens on the board first. Colin Hoffman reached on a hit by pitch, before Ivan Arias singled to score Rodriguez Rosa. With runners on first and second, Bryan Sanders sent a homer over the right field fence, bringing Franklin Pierce ahead 5-0. With Joey Acker on base, Shane Starr doubled to left field, scoring Acker, to extend the lead to 6-0. In the bottom of the inning, Assumption added a lone run of their own.
- The middle three innings remained scoreless on both ends, proving to be a pitching battle between the two teams. In the eighth inning, following a leadoff double by Arias, Roque sent him home on a one-out single between the first and second basemen, bringing the Ravens ahead 7-1. Lane LeClair closed out the game on the mound, pitching 2.0 innings allowing only one hit and striking out four batters.
