Three Ravens Earn Weekly Conference Recognition

RINDGE, N.H. (10/21/25) - Three Franklin Pierce student-athletes were recognized with weekly awards by their respective conferences, as announced Tuesday. Senior defender Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.) of women's ice hockey was named NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week, while Ines Gabarro (Barcelona, Spain) and Mathias Bonnefond (Chateauroux, France) were each selected as the NE10 Rookie of the Week for women's and men's tennis, respectively.

Korneta anchored the Ravens' defensive unit during their two-game weekend series against Post, recording seven blocks across the pair of contests. She also contributed on the offensive end with three shots and a +2 rating in both games. The Ravens split the series and now sit at 2-2 in NEWHA play, currently ranked third in the standings. Korneta leads the conference with a +5 rating and has appeared in every game this season, tallying two assists to date.

Despite a 4-3 loss to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Bonnefond went 2-0 for Franklin Pierce—securing victories at No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles alongside partner Roman Gonzalez. The freshman continues to show poise in key moments, helping the Ravens remain competitive in conference play.

In a 1-1 week for the Ravens, Gabarro picked up a point in all four matches she competed in. At Saint Michael's on Wednesday, her No. 2 doubles team clinched the doubles point before she battled to a hard-fought victory at No. 1 singles. Against Southern New Hampshire, Gabarro again delivered a strong performance—winning her No. 2 doubles match and dominating in top singles play to secure two of the team's three points in Saturday's contest.

Women's hockey returns to the ice this weekend for a two-game series at the University of Vermont, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. in Burlington. Men's tennis is back in action Thursday at Saint Michael's, while women's tennis resumes play next Tuesday on the road at Saint Anselm.
