HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first period, Greyhounds Rachel Agerter would get sent to the box twice, giving the Ravens the opportunity to capitalize quickly.
  • During the first power play, Bo Dean (Toronto, Ontario) would take a shot where it would deflect off the pad of the goalie and onto the stick of Caleigh Murphy (Belle Harbor, N.Y) for the goal.
  • A little over a minute later on the second powerplay opportunity, Melanie Targosz (Livonia, Mich.) would send the puck over to Dean, who shot the puck into the top right corner of the net, extending the lead to 2-0 over the Greyhounds.
  • It wouldn't be long, however, before the Greyhounds would respond with a goal from Natalie Joiner who was able to slot it past Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.).
  • The Greyhounds would produce more offense in the second period, with opportunities on two power plays, but were unable to capitalize.
  • In the third period, the Greyhounds would even score a bad touch from the Ravens, sending the puck in front of their own net, giving enough room for Jodie Gratton to tap it in.
  • The Ravens would be granted a power play in the final minutes of regulation after Kayla McGaffigan gets called for hooking. The Ravens would make 5 shots in the final minutes, but the game would get sent into overtime.
  • The Greyhounds would end overtime early after Agerter carried the puck down the ice and put it away, handing the Ravens a 2-3 Loss in overtime.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Murphy led the team with 7 shots.
  • The Greyhounds outshot the Ravens 31-30.
  • Courtney Swenson (Bolingbrook, Ill.) recorded 3 blocks.
  • Hertl made 28 saves.
