ROME, N.Y. (5/8/23) - The Franklin Pierce University rowing team competed in the Division II East Regional Championship over the weekend where they raced three separate boats in head to head matchups against the likes of top-tier teams such as Mercyhurst University, Jefferson University and D'Youville University. The regional regatta took place on the Erie Canal in Rome, New York.
All three Raven Varsity 8+ boats collected 2nd place finishes in their respective showdowns, with the top finishing time coming in against Mercyhurst (7:41). The second of the trio finished their stretch against D'Youville in 8:15.60, while the third completed the effort in 8:11.10 against Jefferson.
Then, for the second time this season, the Pierce Varsity 4+ crew claimed a win over Mercyhurst, beating the opposition by over 20-seconds with a 8:01.6 finishing time.

Following the events, three Ravens were selected as recipients of postseason honors, beginning with junior Jada Fuentes as an East Region Invitational All-Regatta Team honoree. Juniors Hannah LaGrassa and Jenna Parent rounded out the list as each were named to the East Region Invitational All-Academic Team for holding a 3.5 minimum GPA as a member of the sophomore class or higher.
