MADISON, Wis. (3/11/26) - After securing NEWHA Tournament Champions and earning an automatic bid into the 2026 National College Women's Ice Hockey Championship, the Ravens are to make history Thursday night with their first NCAA tournament appearance in program history.
With the automatic bid, the Ravens will play against Quinnipiac University in the Regional Semifinal round at LaBahn Arena in Madison Wisconsin on Thursday, March 12th at 8 PM EST.
Fans wanting to watch the game can find the live broadcast on ESPN+ and TSN+. Additionally, fans can tune in to local 105.3 FM for a live radio broadcast throughout the game. The game will also be covered on social media through FPUAthletics.
How They Got Here – Franklin Pierce
Franklin Pierce won the NEWHA Championship for the second time in program history last Saturday, defeating Saint Anselm 2-0, their first title since 2022. With the win, the Ravens earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. This marks the first appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Ravens in program history
In the Semifinal of the NEWHA Tournament, the Ravens fell into a deficit against the Stonehill Skyhawks early in the third period. Hailey Anderson (Greer, S.C.) found the equalizer in the last three minutes of the game. In double overtime, Abigail Broz (White Bear Lake, Minn.) found the game-winner on the power play, advancing them to the Championship Game.
Bo Dean (Toronto, Ontario) and Broz would be the only two scorers in the Championship game. Hertl recorded 41 saves and the 20th shutout of her career to help hand the Ravens the NEWHA trophy.
Leading this season has been point leader Caleigh Murphy (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) who has posted 35 points this season. Additionally, Rookie of the Year, Addison Andre (South St. Paul, Minn.) has had an incredible debut season, recording 14 goals and 11 assists. Another rookie standout has been Broz, making her mark on the postseason, scoring 4 goals and tallying 5 assists alone.
Defensively, Senior Captain, Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.) has led the team in blocks with 49. Followed up by strong defensive pair Melanie Targosz (Livonia, Mich.) and Ashley Wright (Milford, Conn.), who both recorded more than 40 blocks in the season along with Korneta.
Behind the Ravens' success comes from Senior Goaltender Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.), making 975 saves on the season and averaging 1.63 in goals against average. Hertl ends the conference play leading the league in goals against average, save percentage, and win percentage. Across Division 1, Hertl ranks 1st in save percentage with .955.
Head Coach David Stockdale has had one of his most successful seasons in the NEWHA, helping 6 Ravens capture NEWHA All-Conference Honors, two major player awards, and receiving NEWHA Coach of the Year Honors for the second time in his career.
How They Got Here - Quinnipiac
Quinnipiac University earned an automatic bid into the tournament after winning the ECAC Championship last Saturday, defeating Yale University 5-1. The win marks just the second ECAC Championship in program history and the first title since 2016 under Head Coach Cassandra Turner.
The Bobcats will make their fifth NCAA appearance in program history this week. In their last appearance, Quinnipiac entered triple overtime in the Regional Semifinal, winning against Penn State 3-2 before falling to Ohio State 5-2.
The Bobcats this season were led by Junior, Kaylen Lamarche, who leads the team with 61 points throughout the 2025-26 campaign. Throughout Division 1, Lamarche ranks 2nd in goals against average (1.08), 5th in points per game (1.56), 3rd in short-handed goals (3), and tied for 1st in game-winning goals.
In net, ECAC Goalie of the Year, Felicia Frank, has made 971 saves, averaging 1.51 in goals against average and .942 in save percentage. Frank ranks 5th in goals against average and save percentage across Division 1 and 3rd in shutouts with 9 on the season.
Coach Turner has led the team to a 28-8-3 record this season in her 11th year in the program, ranking among one of her most successful seasons throughout her career with the team.
This matchup marks the first meeting between the Bobcats and Ravens.
