Program Record Falls as Ravens Deliver Big Day at Mary Grinaker Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (1/31/26) – The Franklin Pierce University men's and women's track & field programs posted a strong set of results on Saturday at the Mary Grinaker Invitational, earning numerous top-10 finishes and highlighted by a new program record in the women's 4x200-meter relay.

MEN'S RESULTS
The Ravens were sharp in the sprints, with Jamel Lee leading the 60 meters in 6.96 seconds. Teammates Darren Romani and freshman Vincent Mutter finished close behind, while freshman Javon Stigler turned in a strong 60-meter hurdles effort at 9.17 seconds. Junior Shawn Mulkerin also posted a smooth 53.22 in the 400 meters.

The distance squad dominated the 5,000 meters, led by junior Liam Doherty, who claimed the win in 16:12.77. Junior John Viens and freshman Trevor Maheu followed in third (16:18.88) and fourth (16:42.69), respectively, rounding out a commanding team performance.

In the field, freshman Seamus Considine continued his rise with a 14.87m (48-9.50) throw in the weight, supported by strong efforts from Jack DiStephan (12.95m / 42-6.00), Timothy Hastings (11.48m / 37-8.00), and senior Jay Candelario (11.42m / 37-5.75). Sophomore Anthony Johnson and Fabrice Nshuti also contributed in the long jump with top-10 marks. The men capped the day with a victory in the 4x200 relay.

WOMEN'S RESULTS
The women matched the men's energy with a series of top finishes — and the day's biggest highlight: the 4x200-meter relay team of Sidney Chapman, Abbie Jacobson, Lanette StJohn, and Issys Price broke the Franklin Pierce program record, winning the event in 1:45.56.

In the sprints, sophomore Price earned the victory in the 60 meters with a winning time of 7.76, leading a trio of Ravens in the top four alongside Chapman (third, 8.19) and Jacobson (fourth, 8.26). Freshman Mimi Ortiz delivered one of the meet's standout doubles, winning the 60-meter hurdles in 9.32 before returning to capture the 200 meters in 27.06.

Senior Lizzy Jones had a multi-event impact, placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.87) and adding a top-three finish in the pole vault at 3.00m.

In the jumps, junior StJohn took second in the long jump with a mark of 5.08m, while freshman Kaitlyn Titus added third-place performances in both the high jump (1.43m) and triple jump (10.11m).

The throws unit continued its dominance, sweeping the top four spots in the shot put behind Abigail Philbin (1st, 11.51m), Emily Nhun (2nd, 11.28m), Destiny Fields (3rd, 10.98m), and Ellie Nunes (4th, 10.69m). The weight throw produced another exceptional group performance, with Fields and Philbin tying for first at 13.90m, followed by Nhun (3rd, 13.79m), Alexa Sprague (4th, 13.07m), and Nunes (5th, 12.23m).

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce now turns its attention to the River Hawk Invitational in Boston, Mass., at The TRACK at New Balance, looking to carry momentum built on depth, balance, and strong contributions from every event group, next weekend.
