SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (12/6/25) – The Franklin Pierce women's track & field team opened the indoor season with one of the strongest collective performances in recent program history, highlighted by multiple event wins, numerous top-10 finishes, and three all-time top-10 marks in the weight throw at the SC Home Opener on Saturday afternoon at Springfield College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ravens came out firing in the sprints, as sophomore
Issys Price dominated the 60 meters with a winning time of 7.68, the No. 2 performance in program history. Franklin Pierce loaded the final with five athletes, including
Lanette StJohn (3rd, 7.93), Myasiah Ortiz (5th, 8.10),
Sidney Chapman (6th, 8.16), and Abigail Jacobson (8th, 8.42).
Chapman carried that momentum into the 200 meters, placing third in 26.92. Jacobson added a fifth-place finish (27.20), while first-year
Kaydence Finley secured ninth (28.03).
In the hurdles, Ortiz led the Ravens with a third-place finish in the 60H final at 9.22, followed closely by Price in fourth (9.57) and Finley seventh (10.20).
First-year
Melany Walker impressed in her collegiate debut, earning second place in the 600 meters with a time of 1:50.24.
The field events produced another wave of top finishes. In the high jump, first-years Rachel Leblanc and
Kaitlyn Titus both cleared 1.53m (5' 0.25") to place fourth and fifth, with StJohn close behind in sixth at 1.48m. Senior Elizabeth Jones added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 2.75m (9' 0.25").
StJohn also secured a runner-up finish in the long jump at 5.28m (17' 4"), while Price grabbed fourth with a jump of 5.14m (16' 10.5"). Jacobson placed ninth at 4.53m.
But the biggest storyline of the meet came from the throws group, which delivered a historic performance in the weight throw:
All three placed inside the top five, marking one of the deepest showings in program history.
Philbin doubled back with a standout performance in the shot put, finishing second with 11.49m (37' 8.5"), good for No. 6 all-time at FPU. Nhun added a third-place throw of 11.23m, with Sprague sixth (10.95m) and
Ellie Nunes seventh (10.63m).
The Lady Ravens will be back in action as a team in 2026. Their first meet is set for January 17th at Brandeis for the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational.
