HOW IT HAPPENED

Chris Hunt (Billerica, Mass.) later added to the advantage as Franklin Pierce closed the quarter ahead 5-2.
  • SNHU responded in the second quarter, slowly chipping away at the deficit. The Penmen scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at 5-5 before Colin Casey (East Moriches, N.Y.) regained the lead for the Ravens late in the half, sending Franklin Pierce into the break with a 6-5 advantage.
  • The third quarter saw momentum swing back and forth. Ethan Cote (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Costa each found the back of the net for the Ravens, including a game-tying goal from Costa to make it 8-8 midway through the frame.
