Korneta Named NEWHA Defensive Player of the Year as Five Ravens Earn All-Conference Honors

WINTRHOP, Mass. (2/28/25) - The New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) revealed its major end-of-season awards on Friday, along with the announcement of its All-NEWHA teams.

Selected by the league's coaches, student-athletes from the conference's eight member institutions were recognized for their outstanding performances throughout the 2024-25 season.

Franklin Pierce's Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.) headlined this year's honors for the Ravens, becoming the first defenseman in program history to be named NEWHA Defensive Player of the Year. She also earned a spot on the All-NEWHA First Team. Korneta leads all defensemen in scoring with 20 points and is tied for the league lead in assists with 15. She has been a key offensive contributor, highlighted by a one-goal, two-assist performance against Saint Anselm (Nov. 2, 2024). Defensively, she ranks second among blueliners in plus/minus (+15), demonstrating her two-way impact.

Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) secured a spot on the All-NEWHA Second Team. Kelley has compiled 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points, tying her for fourth in the league. Her impressive season has earned her both a NEWHA Player of the Week honor and an additional spot on the league's honor roll.

Bo Dean (Toronto, Ontario) was selected for the All-Rookie Team, having tallied 10 goals and six assists for 16 points so far this season. She also claimed a NEWHA Rookie of the Week award.

Dean is joined on the All-Rookie Team by Brynn Levinson (Glencoe, Ill.), who has racked up 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points. Her 15 goals place her tied for second in the league, and she shares fifth place in total points alongside Kelley. Levinson has earned NEWHA Rookie of the Week honors twice this season.

Team captain Julia Stevens (Minneapolis, Minn.) was named to the All-Sportswomanship Team. Stevens has played in 28 games for the Ravens this season, contributing four goals and eight assists while serving as a leader both on and off the ice.

Franklin Pierce shifts its focus to the postseason as the Ravens enter the NEWHA playoffs this weekend. They are set to host Post University in the quarterfinal best of three series. With several key players earning conference honors, the Ravens will look to carry their momentum into the playoffs as they chase a championship.
