Geno Facchetti Named New England’s Top Div. II/III Defensive Player, Wins Joe Zabilski Award

RINDGE, N.H. (11/25/25)  – Franklin Pierce University defensive standout Geno Facchetti (Wilbraham, Mass.) has been selected as the winner of the Joe Zabilski Award, presented annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston to New England's top defensive player at the Division II/III level. The announcement was made Monday afternoon, marking a historic moment for the Ravens football program.

Facchetti becomes the first Franklin Pierce student-athlete ever to earn the Zabilski Award, joining an elite group of regional defensive greats recognized by one of the nation's oldest and most respected football organizations.

The 2025 Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Facchetti anchored a Franklin Pierce defensive unit that led the conference in sacks and consistently dictated the tempo of games. He finished the season with 62 tackles (39 solo), a league-leading 15.5 tackles for loss for 69 yards, and a program-record 9.0 sacks.

Facchetti's impact extended beyond traditional defensive production. He blocked two field goal attempts, both of which were returned for touchdowns. His disruptive presence played a central role in Franklin Pierce posting its winningest season in program history and clinching the program's first-ever NE10 postseason berth.
