RINDGE, N.H. (9/19/26) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team put together a strong performance on Saturday morning, creating numerous scoring opportunities throughout the contest, but ultimately came up just short against Mercy University, 2-1, at Sodexo Field.
Mercy opened the scoring just 2:53 into the contest, but the Ravens responded with consistent pressure in the offensive end. Franklin Pierce continued to create opportunities throughout the opening half, earning penalty corners and putting shots toward the Mercy cage.
The Ravens' persistence paid off at the 29:13 mark, when Reese Swanson found the back of the cage to even the score at 1-1. Franklin Pierce carried that momentum into the remainder of the first half, keeping the game level heading into the break.
Mercy regained the lead at 38:13, but Franklin Pierce continued to battle and generate offensive opportunities throughout the second half. The Ravens finished the contest with 26 shots, including 18 on goal, and 11 penalty corners, consistently putting pressure on the Mercy defense.
Franklin Pierce continued to push for the equalizer in the fourth quarter, earning additional penalty corners and creating several quality scoring chances. The Ravens were unable to find the back of the cage again, as Mercy held on for the 2-1 decision.
The Ravens return to action on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 p.m., when Franklin Pierce hosts Saint Anselm College at Sodexo Field.
