GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (5/2/26) - The Franklin Pierce softball team split a doubleheader with Adelphi on Saturday afternoon, dropping a tough extra-inning opener before bouncing back with a strong win in game two.
GAME ONE – Franklin Pierce 4, Adelphi 5 (8 Inn.)
Franklin Pierce struck first in the opening inning, as Alicia Ott (Stockton, Calif.) delivered an RBI double to send Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, Calif.) across the plate and give the Ravens an early lead.
The Ravens held that 1-0 advantage into the fifth behind a dominant start from Raylee Gilbert (Waterville, Maine), who allowed just one hit through four innings.
However, Adelphi capitalized on defensive errors in the fifth, scoring four unearned runs, highlighted by a three-run triple from Emma Priest.
Franklin Pierce responded in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 4-3 after Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) delivered a clutch two-RBI single.
In the seventh, Bailey Dzivasen (Uxbridge, Mass.) tied the game with an RBI double, forcing extra innings.
Adelphi ultimately walked it off in the bottom of the eighth, using a two-out RBI single from Tori Parente to secure the 5-4 victory.
GAME TWO – Franklin Pierce 5, Adelphi 1
Franklin Pierce opened the scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Ott, but Adelphi answered to tie the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied until the fourth, when the Ravens broke through with a three-run inning. Dzivasen delivered an RBI single, Clough followed with an RBI double, and Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, Calif.) capped the rally with an RBI single to make it 4-1.
Franklin Pierce added an insurance run in the fifth on another RBI double from Ott, extending the lead to 5-1.
Clough controlled the game for the Ravens in the circle, only allowing 1 run, four hits, and recorded 8 strikeouts.
