Ravens Come Up Short in NE10 Twinbill Against Southern Connecticut

RINDGE, N.H. (4/26/26) – The Franklin Pierce baseball team fell in both ends of a Northeast 10 doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday, dropping game one, 12-6, before coming up short in a back-and-forth 16-14 decision in game two.

GAME ONE – Southern Conn. St. 12, Franklin Pierce 6 (7 inn.)
Franklin Pierce battled early but could not overcome a big middle-innings surge from Southern Connecticut.

After falling behind 2-0, the Ravens responded with a two-run second inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Jaocb Roque (Wilmington, Mass.) to even the score. SCSU answered with three runs in the third and added three more in the fourth, including a two-run home run from Jake Chacho to extend the lead to 8-3.

The Owls continued to build separation with a two-run fifth and two more in the sixth. Franklin Pierce added runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including RBI hits from Curt Boyd (Braintree, Mass.), Joey Acker (Upton, Mass.) and Shane Starr (Moretown, Vt.), but could not close the gap.

GAME TWO – Southern Conn. St. 16, Franklin Pierce 14
Game two turned into a slugfest, featuring 30 combined runs and 36 total hits, with Southern Connecticut scoring three runs in the ninth to secure the sweep.

The Ravens erupted for five runs in the second inning to take a 5-2 lead, with Andreas Boglis (Stouffville, Ontario) driving in two runs and Brycen Voisine (Southington, Conn.) adding an RBI single. Franklin Pierce extended the lead to 8-4 in the third before SCSU responded with a seven-run stretch across the fourth and fifth innings to go up 11-8.

Franklin Pierce answered again, taking a 14-13 lead in the eighth on RBI singles from Voisine and Starr. However, Southern Connecticut delivered the decisive blow in the ninth with a three-run home run from Brennan Staubley to regain the lead for good.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce returns to action on Friday (5/1) traveling to AIC at 12:00 PM for the start of a four-game series with the Yellow Jackets.
