MANCHESTER, N.H. (4/20/26) – The Franklin Pierce University softball team powered its way to a series sweep of Saint Anselm on Monday afternoon at South Athletic Fields, using timely hitting and dominant pitching to earn a pair of victories. The Ravens plated 20 total runs across the two games, including a run-rule win in the opener, to improve to 32-4 overall and 22-2 in Northeast 10 play.
Game 1: Franklin Pierce 10, Saint Anselm 0 (5 inn.)
Franklin Pierce used multi-run innings in the third, fourth and fifth to secure a run-rule victory in game one.
The Ravens opened the scoring in the second inning when Camryn Van Valkenburgh (San Dimas, Calif.) delivered an RBI single to bring home Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia).
Franklin Pierce broke the game open in the third inning. Danica Nielsen (Oceanside, Calif.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run, and Van Valkenburgh followed with a three-RBI triple to extend the lead to 5-0.
In the fourth inning, Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.) scored on a throwing error before Maisie Lerette (New Gloucester, Maine) launched a two-run home run to push the lead to 8-0.
The Ravens added two more runs in the fifth inning, as Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, Calif.) recorded an RBI single and Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single to cap the scoring at 10-0.
Georgia Clough earned the win in the circle, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out two. Brooke Koehler (Surpise, Ariz.) closed out the final inning to complete the shutout.
Game 2: Franklin Pierce 10, Saint Anselm 3
Franklin Pierce used multi-run innings in the second and fifth to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Saint Anselm struck first with a sacrifice fly in the opening inning, but the Ravens responded in the second. Andie Anderson (Phoenix, Ariz.) tripled to drive in Lerette and Nielsen followed with an RBI single. Galindo capped the inning with a two-RBI single to give Franklin Pierce a 4-1 lead.
The Ravens extended the lead in the fifth inning with four runs. Nielsen delivered a three-RBI double to bring home Anderson, Alicia Ott (Stockton, Calif.) and Maggie Sudimick (Seymour, Conn.), and Van Valkenburgh followed with an RBI triple to push the lead to 8-1.
Saint Anselm answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Franklin Pierce added insurance the rest of the way. An unearned run crossed in the sixth, and Galindo added an RBI single in the seventh to cap the scoring at 10-3.
Kennedy Morris (Stafford, Conn.) earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on six hits over 4.2 innings with two strikeouts. Raylee Gilbert (Waterville, Maine) closed out the final 2.1 innings in relief to secure the victory.
