BARTOW, Fla. (3/9/26) – The Franklin Pierce University softball team earned a pair of victories on Monday at THE Spring Games, defeating Ashland, 3-2, before rallying for a dramatic 10-9 win over Northwood in Bartow, Florida.
Game One – Franklin Pierce 3, Ashland 2
Franklin Pierce opened the day with a strong pitching performance from
Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia), who earned the win in the circle. Clough tossed six innings, allowing just three hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out eight.
The Ravens broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.) singled to left field to bring home the game's first run. Later in the inning,
Alicia Ott (Stockton, Calif.) reached on an Ashland error that allowed another run to score before
Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, Calif.) grounded out to drive in the third run of the inning.
Raylee Gilbert (Waterville, Maine) entered in relief and tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.
At the plate, Ott led the Ravens with two hits, while
Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.), Duford,
Maisie Lerette (New Gloucester, Maine), and Galindo each added a hit. The Ravens collected seven hits in the win and swiped four bases in the game.
Game Two – Franklin Pierce 10, Northwood 9
The Ravens followed with a thrilling comeback victory over Northwood, rallying from an early five-run deficit to secure the 10-9 win.
Franklin Pierce jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Duford doubled to center field to score
Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, Calif.), and Ott followed with an RBI double.
Northwood responded with a seven-run second inning to take the lead, but the Ravens chipped away. In the third inning, Ott delivered a two-run single before
Danica Nielsen (Oceanside, Calif.) added an RBI single to cut the deficit.
Franklin Pierce pulled ahead in the sixth inning when Lerette singled through the left side to drive in two runs, giving the Ravens a 9-8 lead. Northwood tied the game in the bottom of the inning, but Franklin Pierce answered in the seventh when Clough singled through the left side to drive in the game-winning run.
Brooke Koehler (Surprise, Ariz.) earned the win in relief, tossing five innings while allowing two runs and striking out two.
The Ravens finished with 16 hits in the victory. Ott led the offense with three RBIs, while
Camryn Van Valkenburgh (San Dimas, Calif.) collected three hits. Arreguin, Lerette, Nielsen, Duford, and
Bailey Dzivasen (Uxbridge, Mass.) each recorded multiple hits in the win.
