Ravens Split Day at The Space Coast Spring Games

MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/11/26)  – The Franklin Pierce softball team split a pair of games at the Space Coast Spring Games on Wednesday, falling to West Chester, 3–2, before rebounding with a 10–1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. With the split, the Ravens move to 5-1 overall on the season.

Game One – West Chester 3, Franklin Pierce 2

Franklin Pierce struck first in the opening game of the day, taking a 1–0 lead in the top of the first inning. Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, Calif.) doubled to left center and later came around to score when Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.) reached on a West Chester error, putting the Ravens ahead early. 

West Chester tied the game in the fourth inning when Paige Marabell delivered an RBI double to center field, scoring Mairead Hopkins.

The Golden Rams took the lead in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a Franklin Pierce error that extended the frame. Tess Kearney doubled to left field to score Kayla Fitzpatrick, and Hopkins followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 3–1. Both runs were unearned.

Franklin Pierce cut the deficit to one in the sixth inning when Alicia Ott (Stockton, Claif.) doubled to left field, driving in Maisie Lerette (New Gloucester, Maine), but the Ravens were unable to find the tying run. 

The Ravens finished with seven different Ravens recording hits in the contest. In the circle, Danica Nielsen (Oceanside, Calif.) took the loss despite allowing just one earned run across 4.2 innings.

Game Two – Franklin Pierce 10, St. Thomas Aquinas 1 (5 inn.)

The Ravens responded in the second game of the afternoon, erupting for 10 runs in the first three innings to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas.

Franklin Pierce plated five runs in the opening frame before adding two more in the second inning. The Ravens then broke the game open in the third when Duford tripled to left field, driving in three runs.

Duford led the offensive effort with five RBI, while Taylor Ellis (Crandall, Texas) and Camryn Van Valkenburgh (San Dimas, Calif.) also drove in runs.

Inside the circle, Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) delivered a dominant performance, tossing a five-inning complete game. The junior allowed just two hits and one unearned run while striking out 10 batters. 

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce continues play at THE Spring Games on Friday, March 13 in Bartow, Florida. The Ravens will face Lake Erie at 10:00 AM before taking on Grand Valley State at 12:15 PM.
