HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Stephen Bangs started on the mound for the Ravens, getting out of the inning in three at bats. The Ravens took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning. With Joey Acker on second base after a single and stolen base, and Jacob Roque on first, Shane Starr singled to wright field, scoring Acker before the end of the inning.
  • Saint Michael's answered in the top of the second with a RBI single and a two-run homer to take their only lead of the game, 3-1. The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the third inning, after Chase Phillibotte entered in relief to end the top of the third.
  • Acker doubled other lead off the inning, advancing to third on a single by Roque. A sacrifice fly by Shane Starr sent Acker across the plate for the second Ravens run of the day. Just after, Rafael Rodriguez Rosa homered, scoring himself and Roque.
  • Jamie Leggett came in to pitch, facing only three batters in the top of the fourth inning before Franklin Pierce extended their lead. Ivan Arias led off the fourth inning with a single, and stole two bases to put himself on third during Brycen Tetler's at bat, and scored on the ground out. A second Acker double came before Roque's single that brought in a sixth run for Franklin Pierce. Starr reached on a double, scoring Roque just before Rodriguez Rosa hit his second home run of the day, extending the lead to 3-9.
  • In the bottom of the sixth inning, Rodriguez Rosa hit a sacrifice fly scoring Acker who had reached on a single and stole his second base of the day, putting the score at 10-3.
  • With the bases loaded in the eighth inning on a walk and two hit by pitches, Curt Boyd hit a grand slam, walking off the game 14-3. Leggett picked up the win on the mound, pitching 4.0 innings, striking out five, while allowing only one hit and no runs.
