HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

  • Adelphi started their scoring early, bringing in eight runs in the first inning on multiple extra base hits and two sacrifice flies to take the early lead that Franklin Pierce was never able to cut into.
  • A Panthers home run brought in two additional runs in the second inning, extending their lead to 10-0.
  • Despite three walks in the third inning, the Ravens didn't find their way across home plate to bring in a run. The score remained the same until the sixth inning, when the Panthers brought in two more runs on a 2 RBI double.
  • Adelphi tacked on their final run of the game in the eighth inning, and Franklin Pierce was not able to add any of their own over the last two innings, finalizing the score at 13-0 in favor of the Panthers.

Game 2

  • The Panthers took an early lead in game two, as well, bringing in two runs in the first inning. Franklin Pierce got on the board in the second inning on a first-pitch home run by Rafael Rodriguez Rosa. The lone run was answered by five more Adelphi runs in the bottom of the second inning, putting the score at 7-1 through two frames.
  • In the third inning, back to back singles by Brycen Tetler and Joey Acker were followed by a Jacob Roque double to bring in the second Ravens run of the game. A sacrifice fly by Shane Starr came in the next at-bat to score Acker. Roque scored on a ground out, bringing in the fourth run for Franklin Pierce before the end of the inning.
  • Franklin Pierce was able to hold the score at 7-4 until the fifth inning when Adelphi brought in three more runs to extend their lead to 10-4.
  • In the seventh inning the Ravens looked to come back, but were only able to bring in one run - a Roque single that scored Bryan Sanders II who had reached on a single himself, before the final out of the game.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • Rafael Rodriguez Rosa went 2-2 in game two with the only Ravens home run of the day.
  • Cage Thompson pitched efficiently, going 1.2 innings allowing no runs and only 2 hits.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce looks to come back tomorrow, with games three and four of the series at Adelphi. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 PM in Garden City, N.Y.
