Baseball Takes Game One of Doubleheader to Win Series over Assumption

WORCESTER, MASS. (3/29/26) - Franklin Pierce baseball won the weekend series over Assumption, taking game one of the doubleheader, Sunday afternoon.

Game One

  • Franklin Pierce took an early lead in the top of the first inning with a single to center field by Shane Starr which scored Joey Acker who reached on a hit by pitch. Assumption answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at one.
  • The Ravens added three runs in the second inning, the first coming from a single by Acker, which scored Ivan Arias to regain the lead. A fielder's choice with Jacob Roque at the plate scored Brycen Tetler, following Andreas Boglis scoring on a balk, to take the 4-1 lead. Assumption tied the game at four in the bottom of the second inning, but was answered by Franklin Pierce in the third.
  • A single by Boglis scored the fifth run of the game through Curt Boyd, followed by a two RBI triple by Acker to bring the score to 7-4 Ravens. Roque had the final hit of the inning, scoring Acker with a single to put Franklin Pierce ahead 8-4.
  • The score remained unchanged through the fourth inning, but the Ravens tacked on a ninth run with a solo homer by Brycen Tetler. Assumption closed the gap to four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • In the top of the sixth inning, Rafael Rodriguez Rosa doubled to left field, scoring Starr. Bryan Sanders II then singled through the left side, scoring Jayden Villanueva to bring the lead to 11-5.
  • The seventh inning saw four more Franklin Pierce runs, the first coming from an Assumption fielding error that scored Boglis. Just after, Colin Hoffman sent the ball down the third base line for a single which scored Acker. With bases loaded, Sanders II drew the walk, bringing Roque across the plate, followed by another Greyhounds fielding error that scored both Starr and Hoffman. In the bottom of the final inning, Assumption added two more runs to the board, finalizing the score at 16-8.

Game Two

  • The Ravens again got on the board in the top of the first inning, with Rodriguez Rosa on first and Acker on third. While Arias was at the plate, Rodriguez Rosa got caught in a rundown but Acker was able to cross home plate before the final out was made. 
  • Throughout the second and fifth innings, Assumption was able to keep Franklin Pierce from adding any more runs, while adding eight of their own to have the 8-1 lead going into the sixth inning.
  • Franklin Pierce added their second and final run of the day on a fielder's choice which scored Boyd. The remained of the sixth and the final inning remained scoreless, giving the Greyhounds the win, 8-2.
