Franklin Pierce Splits Double Header with Pace; Hoffman Walks Off Game Two

RINDGE, N.H. (3/20/2026) - In their first double header of the weekend against Pace University, Franklin Pierce baseball fell in game one, but brought game two to extra innings, ultimately taking the win on a walk-off single by Colin Hoffman

GAME ONE

  • Pace took the lead early, scoring five in the first inning, and not allowing Franklin Pierce to get on the board until the third inning. 
  • With Thomas Dillon on base in the bottom of the third inning, Joey Acker hit a sacrifice ground out, making the score 5-1.
  • Pace would score three more times across the fifth and sixth innings, and were able to keep Franklin Pierce from adding to their lone run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Rafael Rodriguez Rosa scored on a Curt Boyd double to left field. 
  • The Setters would score twice more in the final inning of the game, and the Ravens were not able to close the deficit or take the lead. Pace would win game one 13-2.

GAME TWO

  • In game two, Johnny Ruggiero Jr. was able to keep the Setters off the board through two innings. The Ravens took the early 1-0 lead when Rodriguez Rosa singled to left field scoring Joey Acker. Pace however, took a 3-1 lead with a solo run in the third, and a pair of runs in the fifth inning.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Franklin Pierce gained momentum. Brycen Tetler led of the inning with a solo home run, cutting the deficit to one run. Quickly after, Share Starr hit a sacrifice fly out, scoring Jacob Roque and bringing Acker to third base. A single by Rodriguez Rosa brought Acker home, and advanced Boyd to third base, where he would score from on a single by Andreas Boglis. A two RBI double by Ivan Arias would put the Ravens ahead 7-3 to end the fifth inning.
  • Pace quickly tied the game at seven in the top of the sixth inning on two home runs. In the bottom of the inning, Boyd would follow suit, sending one over the fence to score himself and Acker regaining the lead 9-7.
  • In the top of what would've been the final inning, the Setters drove in a two RBI home run to tie the game at 9 a piece.
  • After two and a half scoreless innings, the Ravens took the win 10-9. Tetler started off the inning with a leadoff walk, before Acker was intentionally walked. A Shane Starr double would advance Acker to third base, while the Setters were able to get the second out of the inning through Brycen Tetler at home plate. With bases loaded, two outs, and a 1-0 count, Colin Hoffman walked off the game with a single to right field, scoring Acker for the 10-9 win.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Curt Boyd went 4-6 at the plate with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 4 walks.
  • The Ravens drew a total of 10 walks on the day.
  • Over both games, Franklin Pierce left 12 runners on base.
  • Lane LeClair picked up the win in game two, pitching the final 2.0 innings, allowing no hits or runs, letting up no walks, and striking out 4 batters.
