Franklin Pierce Improves to 9-1 with Wins over Molloy and Wayne State

MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/14/26) – The Franklin Pierce University softball team picked up a pair of victories on their final day in Florida, defeating Molloy, 3-1, before earning a 9-4 win over Wayne State. The Ravens improved to 9-1 on the season with the sweep.

Game One: Franklin Pierce 3, Molloy 1

Franklin Pierce used timely hitting and a dominant pitching performance from Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) to secure a 3-1 win over Molloy in the first game of the day.

Molloy struck first in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on a Franklin Pierce error to take a 1-0 lead. The Ravens responded quickly in the bottom half of the frame when Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, Calif.) reached base and later scored on an RBI single by Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.) to even the game at 1-1.

Franklin Pierce took the lead in the fourth inning. After Alicia Ott (Stockton, Calif.) reached base, Clough doubled to left field, allowing a run to score following a throwing error by the Molloy defense to give Franklin Pierce a 2-1 advantage.

Franklin Pierce added an insurance run in the fifth inning when Raylee Gilbert (Waterville, Maine) singled to center field, and Andie Anderson (Phoenix, Ariz.) later scored on a Molloy throwing error, extending the lead to 3-1.

Clough controlled the game from the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out six to earn the win.

Game Two: Franklin Pierce 9, Wayne State 4

The Franklin Pierce offense erupted early in game two as the Ravens scored nine runs across the first two innings to defeat Wayne State, 9-4.

Franklin Pierce wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. Arreguin singled to start the game before Anderson walked to put two runners on. Duford then launched a three-run home run to left field, giving Franklin Pierce a 3-0 lead.

Wayne State answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Franklin Pierce responded with a huge second inning, plating six runs to break the game open. Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, Calif.) delivered a two-RBI single, while Duford drove in another run with a walk. Later in the inning, Ott doubled to left field to drive in two runs, helping Franklin Pierce build a commanding 9-2 advantage.

Wayne State added two runs in the fifth inning, but Franklin Pierce maintained control. Gilbert entered in relief and closed out the final two innings to secure the victory.
