HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jefferson opened the game with a strong first quarter, scoring four goals while holding the Ravens to just one, which came from Erin McIlroy (Newfields, N.H.). The Rams carried that momentum into the second quarter, adding five more goals.
- Franklin Pierce responded with four goals of their own from Courtney Hannes (Tyngsborough, Mass.), Olivia Robb (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Julianna Lanzillo (Chelmsford, Mass.), and McIlroy, but Jefferson held a 9-5 lead heading into halftime.
- The Rams continued their offensive pressure in the third quarter, netting five more goals. Franklin Pierce answered with goals from Robb and Maura Cogavin (Franklin, Mass.), but Jefferson extended its lead to 14-7 going into the final period.
- In the fourth quarter, Jefferson added three additional goals to secure the victory. Hannes scored the lone goal for the Ravens in the final frame, bringing the final score to 17-8.
