Ravens Push Assumption to Overtime Before Falling 86–80

RINDGE, N.H. (2/21/26) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team delivered one of its most complete efforts of the season on Saturday afternoon inside The Fieldhouse, battling Assumption shot for shot and forcing overtime before ultimately dropping an 86–80 decision in Northeast-10 play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening half was a back-and-forth track meet, producing six ties and three lead changes, with both teams hitting 31 points by the break. Raymond Baka (Atlanta, Ga.) powered the Ravens early, pouring in 19 first-half points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Beni Lavodrama (Washington, D.C.) and Anthony Parker (Middletown, Conn.) provided key baskets to keep the game level at 31–31 after one.
  • Franklin Pierce surged ahead multiple times in the second half, leading by as many as eight behind a burst from Baka, who continued to attack the rim, and timely jumpers from Parker and Kayvontay Williams (Queensvillage, N.Y.). The Ravens also controlled long stretches defensively, forcing turnovers and converting second-chance opportunities.
  • Assumption responded with efficient shooting from Zamareon McCown and Barilugbene Mawo, tying the game late on a series of drives and perimeter shots. With the score knotted at 72–72 in the final seconds, neither team converted on potential game-winners, sending the matchup into overtime.
  • In the extra period, Assumption capitalized early with a pair of buckets, while Franklin Pierce stayed within striking distance thanks to free throws and inside scoring. However, the Greyhounds knocked down two threes and held the Ravens to eight overtime points to seal the 86–80 final.
