HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens came out pouncing from the first whistle today. Just over six minutes in, a lobbed ball from Kaitlyn Bautista (Scurry, Texas) found the feet of Jenni Huttunen at the top of the box who beat 3 defenders and calmly placed it into the bottom left corner to draw first blood against the Spartans. Just about halfway through the half a through ball from Samantha Breton (Chicopee, Mass.) found Mackenzie Shean (Agawam, Mass.) who crossed it right across goal to find Grace Martin whose shot touched the hands of Spartans goalkeeper Madison Lepage but was unable to keep it out as it hit the back of the net for the second goal of the game.
- In the second half, the Ravens continued their dominance displaying beautiful pieces of play all throughout the half. Seven minutes into the second half Martin made a darting run down the left wing and crossed the ball perfectly to Olivia Crespo who just had to get a touch on it to get the Ravens third goal of the game. Fifteen minutes later freshman McKenna Maguire sent a ball through to Mollie Calahane (Merrimac, Mass.) down the wing who crossed right back to Maguire who beat the player on her back and slotted it into the bottom right corner to open her goal account for the Ravens and register the fourth goal of the game. It took just two minutes later for the Ravens to find their 5th of the match when Huttenen intercepted a pass from a Spartan, beat her defenders and riffled the ball into the top left corner claiming her brace. The Ravens 6th and final goal was created by Mari Heiskanen (Krikkonummi, Finland) when she sent Flavia Taveri through on goal in a 1v1 against the keeper and Taveri found the opening between the goalkeeper's legs to secure the 6-0 win against the Spartans.
