Field Hockey Falls to Adelphi in Conference Opener

GARDEN CITY, N.Y (9/20/25) - The Ravens traveled to Adelphi to play in their first conference matchup of the 2025 season, where they fell to the Panthers in a 1-9 loss. 

Score: Franklin Pierce 1, Adelphi 9 

Record: Franklin Pierce 1-4 (1-4, 0-1 NE10), Adelphi (2-3, 1-0 NE10) 

Location: Motamed Field, Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y. 

Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Panthers would score six goals in the first half of the game. They were able to open the game in the first three minutes when Caroline Beakes found Kelly Johnson for the first goal of the contest. The panthers would continue to score on Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands), with goals from Lana Mignon and Sydney Flores.  
  • In the second quarter, the Panthers kept up the momentum with two more goals from Mignon and an assist to help Katie Detorre find the back of the cage.  
  • In the third quarter, after another goal from the Panthers, Aria Caputo (Gloucester, Mass.) denied Adelphi the shutout when Cece Keller (Biddeford, Maine) dragged the goalie on from in front of the cage and connected with Caputo for the goal. 
  • However, the scoring wouldn't end there for the Panthers, as they would add two more goals on the scoreboard before the end of the game, including a fourth goal from Mignon, rounding out the day with four goals and two assists. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

  • Noorlag saved 8 shots, while Cadence Goulet (Biddeford, Maine) made her first appearance of the season with one save.  
  • Caputo and Sydalia Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) led the team with 3 shots on goal. 
  • Adelphi outshot Pierce 25 to 11. 
  • The Ravens had 7 penalty corners while the Panthers had 11. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will look ahead to another conference matchup against Saint Anslem College at Sodexo Field on Wednesday, September 20th.
