HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a quiet opening stretch, Molloy broke through in the 12th minute when a loose ball in the box set up Olivia Ingenito, who lifted a shot over Raven goalkeeper Jess LaCroix (Nashua, N.H.) for the early lead.
  • Franklin Pierce generated chances of its own as Lindsey Price (Plainfield, Conn.) forced a save in the 26th minute. However, the Lions struck again late in the half, heading home a goal off a well-placed corner kick to take a 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
  • The Ravens came out of halftime with renewed energy, racking up three corner kicks and three shots in the first six minutes. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Jenni Huttunen (Tuusula, Finland) blasted a 25-yard strike into the far side netting to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
  • Momentum nearly swung completely just minutes later as Grace Martin broke free on a one-on-one chance, but Molloy keeper Elyse Muñoz came off her line for a critical kick save.
  • Molloy responded quickly, with Sarah Cavallo converting from distance in the 64th minute to restore the two-goal margin. The Ravens continued to press late, including a dangerous look from Huttunen in the 77th minute, but could not find a second goal as Molloy closed out the win.
