HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Yellow Jackets did well to try and keep the Ravens quite early in the first half until the 18th minute when ball fell to Claudia Peirce (Carver, MA) who rifled a shot that hit off the inside of the post leaving Mckenna Maguire (Brookline, N.H.) to tap it into an empty net putting the Ravens up on the scoreboard.
  • It took just 10 minutes later for the Ravens to find their second goal of the game off an in-swinging ball from a Kaitlyn Bautista (Scurry, TX) freekick that found itself bouncing in the box leading to a Grace Martin (Millbury, MA) strike that rocketed into roof of the net.
  • The Ravens came into the second half picking up exactly where they left off. Just 2 minutes in Martin sent a ball over the Yellow Jacket defense to Peirce who used her pace to glide by the defender and took a powerful shot that beat the keeper gifting her, her second goal of the season and the Ravens 3rd of the game
  • In the 73rd minute, a Kaitlyn Bautista (Scurry, TX) free kick slipped Samantha Breton (Chicopee, MA) down the right wing who crossed the ball into a crowded box as it took a couple deflections before bouncing in front of Mackenzie Shean (Agawam, MA) who had an empty net to tap it into giving the ravens a 4-0 lead.
  • With 90 seconds left in the game Angel Reid (London, England) made a darting run down the left wing and crossed the ball into the box which the Yellow Jacket keeper was able to parry away but not far enough before Mari Heiskanen (Kirkkonummi, Finland) took a shot that deflected into the path of Mikayla Horton (East Islip, N.Y.) who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of an empty net getting the Ravens 5th on the day and solidifying the win.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
  • Franklin Pierce outshot AIC 26-4.
  • The Ravens outnumbered the Yellow Jackets on corner kicks, 7-0.
  • Jess LaCroix (Nashau, N.H.) made 1 save in goal.
