HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Reese Swanson (Somerset, Mass.) wasted no time setting the tone, putting up what would be her first goal of the evening, with a little over a minute into the game.
  • The Ravens opened the second period strong as Lily Zavras (Worcester, Mass.) extended the lead with a goal of her own. Saint Michael's responded quickly with their only shot of the night, a goal by Maddy Wall that briefly cut the deficit in half. But the Ravens didn't let up as Zavras connected with Puck Wanders (Doorn, Netherlands), who tipped in her first collegiate goal to restore the two-goal lead.
  • Swanson struck again in the third quarter after a shot from Sydalia Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) rebounded off the goalkeeper and onto her stick, scoring her second goal of the game. Savage made her presence felt all over the field, shining defensively during two key penalty corners before scoring her first collegiate goal to push the Ravens' lead to 5-1 by the end of the third.
  • Swanson completed her hat trick in the fourth quarter, capping off an unforgettable night with her third goal. She recorded a career-high 12 shots during the game.
  • Other notable performances were seen by Olivia O'Brien (Upton, Mass.), who made her season debut and held her own against the Purple Knight's offense. Abigail Tarka (Natick, Mass.) also put on a strong performance with a total of 5 shots. We also saw Aria Caputo (Gloucester, Mass.) all over the field throughout the game, contributing both defensively and offensively.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Swanson, Zavras, Savage, and Wanders all had 3 or more shots on goal.
  • The ravens outshot the Purple Knights 39 to 1.
  • Pierce saw 13 penalty corners throughout the game.
  • Zavras recorded 2 assists in addition to her goal.
  • Joelle Cameron still made an impressive 19 saves for the Purple Knights despite the 6 goals against her.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens travel to American International College on Saturday, September 13th for a battle against the Yellow Jackets.
