RINDGE, N.H. (7/24/25) - Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Matt Johnson has announced the hiring of Ryon Lynch as the new head coach of the Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse program. Lynch joins the Ravens following a successful decade on staff at Springfield College and will begin his duties immediately.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Ryon to Franklin Pierce," said Johnson. "He has proven himself as a passionate leader, a strong recruiter, and a dedicated educator of the game. We believe his experience and vision will elevate our men's lacrosse program to new heights."
Lynch shared his appreciation for the opportunity, saying, "I want to thank President Eden, Director of Athletics Matt Johnson, and the entire search committee for their confidence in me and for entrusting me with the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program at Franklin Pierce University."
Lynch most recently served as the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Springfield College men's lacrosse program from 2017 to 2025. During his time on staff, the Pride captured five straight NEWMAC championships and made five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 run in 2019. As a key architect of Springfield's offense, Lynch developed and implemented both pre-season and in-season strategies, managed practice planning, and oversaw recruiting operations.
"Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work alongside incredible mentors, colleagues, and friends who have helped prepare me for this moment," he said. "I'm especially grateful to Coach Bugbee and the Springfield College athletic department for their unwavering support and guidance."
Before that, he served as a graduate assistant coach with Springfield from 2015 to 2017 while earning his Master of Physical Education in Athletic Administration. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Movement and Sports Studies from Springfield.
A decorated former student-athlete, Lynch was a four-year standout for the Pride from 2010 to 2014. He was a team captain, a USILA Honorable Mention All-American, and the ECAC New England Offensive Player of the Year in 2013. He remains among the program's all-time leaders, ranking second in career assists and sixth in total points.
"It's truly an honor to join the supportive and close-knit community at Franklin Pierce," said Lynch. "From the moment I stepped on campus, FPU felt like home. I look forward to embracing the values of the university, connecting with alumni, and getting to know our student-athletes and their families as we build a culture of excellence and pride within the Raven lacrosse program."
Outside of college coaching, Lynch has served as Director of the New England Lacrosse Academy and held head coaching roles with the New England Blazers and Stallions Lacrosse Club, helping grow the game and mentor athletes at the club level.
In addition to his coaching career, Lynch has worked in the field of education, serving as a physical education teacher and adjunct faculty member at Springfield College, supervising student-teachers and supporting the next generation of educators.
