Ravens Split Senior Day Series with AIC

Rindge, NH (4/27/25) - The Franklin Pierce baseball team worked to split their senior day series with the American International Yellowjackets, dropping game one 12-8 and winning game two 5-2. 

Scores:  

Game 1: Franklin Pierce 8, AIC 12 

Game 2: Franklin Pierce 5, AIC 2 

Records: Franklin Pierce 28-17 (18-4 NE10), AIC 16-20 (10-9 NE10) 

Location: Pappas Field, Rindge, NH. 

Date: April 27, 2025 

Game 1:  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Yellowjackets were the first ones on the scoreboard in the top of the after Aidan Streeter struck an RBI double to right center field to score Brendan Edvardsen to put the Jackets ahead 1-0. 

  • AIC would add on to this lead in the third inning with a two-run home run by Leandro Guevara to make it 3-0 in favor of the Yellowjackets. 

  • The Ravens responded with a two-run homer of their own off the bat of junior designated hitter Nolan DeAndrade (Bridgewater, MA) who scored junior shortstop Ivan Arias (Boston, MA), making the score 3-2 AIC. 

  • The Jackets created some breathing room in the fourth after a 2-RBI single by Josh Frometa that scored Cole Patterson and Sam Tanous, making it 5-2 AIC. 

  • The Ravens again began to crawl their way back into the game as Nolan DeAndrade struck an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring senior left fielder Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, NY), making it 5-3 AIC. 

  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Ravens were able to put themselves within a run, thanks to an RBI single to left center by senior first baseman Anthony Marcano (Boston, MA) that scored junior center fielder Joey Acker (Upton, MA) making it 5-4 Yellowjackets. 

  • It was in the top of the seventh where the Ravens lost control of the game, as the Yellowjackets scored seven runs in the inning. Kiernan Caffery started the rally with a 2-RBI single scoring Leandro Guevara and Josh Frometa.Caffery then scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. After that, Sam Tanous crushed a 2-RBI single of his own, scoring Aidan Streeter and Brendan Edvardsen. Then, Leandro Guevara walked and Nick Serce was hit by a pitch, both with the bases loaded and both scored runs, giving the Jackets a commanding 12-4 lead. 

  • The Ravens attempted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth as Ivan Arias hit an RBI single to score senior second baseman Kiobel Lugo (Boston, MA). After that, Nolan DeAndrade crushed a 3-run homerun to deep left field, however it was too little, too late as the Ravens could only make the final score 12-8 in favor of the Yellowjackets. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS 

  • Both teams finished the game with 11 hits. 

  • Franklin Pierce had the only error of the game which costed them two runs in the seventh inning. 

  • The Ravens' pitching staff gave up seven walks, which helped the Yellowjackets score two runs in the seventh inning. 

Game 2: 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Ravens struck first in game two. Sophomore right fielder Michael Quiros (Springfield, MA) to score graduate third baseman Julien Monks (Pacé, France) making it 1-0 Ravens in the bottom of the second. 

  • The Yellowjackets answered back in the top of the fourth. Nick Serce singled to right to score Josh Frometa, then Aidan Streeter sacrificed flew out to right field to score Nick Serce and make it a 2-1 Yellowjackets lead. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS 

  • The Ravens out hit the Yellowjackets in game two, getting 8 hits to the Jackets' 5. 

  • The Yellowjackets had a rough time defensively in the fourth, as they committed 3 errors, one of which contributed to a run. 

  • Junior pitcher Drew Delucia (Medway, MA) pitched a complete game for the Ravens, punching out 6 batters and walking 5.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS 

The Ravens look ahead to a three-game series with their intra-state rivals, the Southern New Hampshire Penmen, to close the regular season. Game one of a two-game doubleheader will be 3:00 pm in Hookset, NH, on Friday, May 2nd.
