Late Push Not Enough as Ravens Fall to New Haven on the Road 

 

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (4/19/25) The Franklin Pierce women's lacrosse team hit the road on Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup against New Haven. Despite a spirited second-half effort, the Ravens couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 18-7 to the Chargers at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • New Haven surged out of the gates, building a 7-1 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 12-3 by halftime behind five goals from Katie Schenk and a hat trick from Gianna Caprioli. 

  • The Ravens showed fight in the second half, led by senior attacker Erin McIlroy (Newfields, N.H), who poured in five goals and added an assist. McIlroy scored three times after halftime, including her final tally with 5:14 remaining in the fourth quarter to make it 16-7. However, New Haven added two late goals to close out the win. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS 

  • The Chargers outshot the Ravens 44-15. 

  • The Ravens were successful on 10-of-18 clear attempts; New Haven cleared 13-of-14. 

  • Senior goalkeeper Katherine Hickey (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made 14 saves in the loss for the Ravens. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return home for their final game of the season on Wednesday, April 23, when they host Assumption University at Sodexo Field. The first draw is set for 3 p.m.
