RINDGE, N.H. (4/23/2024) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens women's lacrosse team couldn't end their season on a win and fell short to the Assumption Greyhounds on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 conference play. The game did have some positives however, as it was their Morgan's Message Game, advocating for mental health both with student-athletes and the community.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair between both teams. The Greyhounds struck first, but then senior midfielder Riley Beem (Windham, Maine) and junior attackmen Maura Cogavin (Franklin, Mass.) each found the back of the net to take the 2-1 lead. Senior attackmen Emily Ulmer (Bedford, N.H.) also scored in the frame to go up 3-2. The Greyhounds ended the quarter on three unanswered goals to take the 5-3 lead going into the second quarter.
- The Greyhounds added another three goals on the board to begin the 2nd quarter and take the 8-3 lead. The Ravens got a much-needed goal from junior midfielder Erin McIlroy (Newfields, N.H.) to cut the deficit in half, 8-4. The Greyhounds answered quickly, scoring 4 straight goals to take the 11-4 lead. The Ravens ended the first half on a high note, however. Emily Ulmer added her 2nd goal of the game and senior attackmen Hayley Hermsdorf (Center Moriches, N.Y.) ripped a shot into the netting off a pass from Maura Cogavin. The Ravens trailed 11-6 entering the halftime break.
- Assumption continued to fire in the third quarter despite the strong finish to the first half from the Ravens. They scored 6 consecutive goals to take the 17-6 lead. The stellar day continued from Emily Ulmer, as she completed a hat trick performance to trail 17-7 after three quarters.
- Junior attackmen Olivia Robb (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored the lone goal in the 4th quarter, assisted by Riley Beem to close out the game, 17-8 in favor of Assumption.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
- The Greyhounds outshot the Ravens 38-22.
- Each team won 13 draw controls.
- The Ravens won 7 ground balls. The Greyhounds won 16.
- The Ravens used a trio of goalkeepers in net. Katherine Hickey suffered the loss, making 7 saves in goal. Saige Paradise made 2 saves. Olivia Godwin made 4 saves.
NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will look toward next season. They made significant strides this season and have a bright future with a solid young core.
