Game 1:

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Purple Knights opened the scoring in game one with a 2-run home run to deep left-center field by CJ Davidson, scoring Brooke Edgerly making it 2-0 Saint Michael's.

  • The Ravens quickly responded in the second inning with four runs of their own. Senior first baseman Anna Erikson (Temecula, CA) singled to right field to score both first-year third baseman Kaylee Fraund (Murietta, CA) and senior outfielder Bella Williams (Phoenix, AZ). Then first-year outfielder Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, CA) walked with the bases loaded to score Anna Erikson. After that, sophomore catcher Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, NY) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score senior infielder Haley Bigwood (Athol, MA), giving the Ravens a 4-2 lead.

  • The Purple Knights then tied the game in the bottom of the second inning courtesy of a 2-run double by Ella Nickerson scoring Abreanna Smith and Maddy Booska.

  • The Ravens added a couple more runs in the fifth. Taylor Ellis singled down the left field line to score junior designated player Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, CA), and Haley Bigwood hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score first-year infielder Danielle Belliveau (Baldwinville, MA) to extend the Ravens' lead to 15-4.

  • The Purple Knights were able to get another run on the board through a home run by CJ Davidson to left center, however, they were not able to overcome the ten-run deficit and thus the game ended in the fifth inning with the Ravens in front 15-5.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Ravens had a monster day at the plate, outhitting the Purple Knights 12-7.

  • The Ravens dominated in pitching, striking out 7 Purple Knights (6 by Georgia Clough alone) to only one Ravens striking out.

  • The Purple Knights also gave up five walks and committed the only error in the game.

Game 2:

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens quickly picked up where they left off in game one as Bella Williams crushed an RBI double to left center to score Charlit Hartenstein, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead.

  • The Purple Knights, however, took the lead in the bottom of the third. Brooke Bishop reached first on a fielder's choice while both Brooke Edgerly and Emma Nordahl scored on a throwing error to put the Knights in front 2-1.

  • The game remained tied until the final inning, where Brooke Bishop hit a walk-off single to right field to score Brooke Edgerly, securing a 3-2 win for the Purple Knights.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • There were a lot fewer hits in game two compared to game one. The Purple Knights outhit the Ravens 7-6 in the game.

  • The Ravens' defense committed two errors, which eventually resulted in the go-ahead and the game-winning runs for the Purple Knights.

  • Both Georgia Clough and CJ Davidson put up impressive performances in the pitching circle. Clough went for 6 innings and struck out 4, while walking 4 and giving up 7 hits.
