Ravens Secure 4-0 Shutout Victory Over Saint Michael's

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (2/21/25) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens women's ice hockey team continued their good run of form defeating the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College 4-0 in their penultimate NEWHA regular season game. Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Illinois), Lauren Maras (Alexandria, Minnesota), Bo Dean (Toronto, Ontario), and Anna Caumo (Brunico, Italy) all got on the scoresheet tonight in their away victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Raven's started their dominance early in the game netting their first goal of the game within 3 minutes thanks to Maggie Korneta. The early dominance would continue with Lauren Maras notching in the second a little halfway through the period in the 11th minute mark.
  • The momentum continued in favor of the Ravens during the second period. Within the first 5 minutes of the period the puck fell to Bo Dean who slotted it into the back of the net. The rest of the period was quiet for the Ravens however they stayed very much in control
  • The Raven's closed out the period in fashion. Anno Caumo netted the final goal of the game 4 and a half minutes into the 3rd period solidifying the win. After the goal the ravens dominated the tempo and speed of the game with their possession not allowing the purple knights to get many shots off leading to a Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Illinois) shutout on the night.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens outshot the Purple Knights 59-37. 
  • The Ravens went 1-5 on the power play while the Purple Knights went 0-3.
  • Junior goaltender Jill Hertl came out victorious not just on the ice but in saves as well bettering McKenna Dans 22-21.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens and the Purple Knights will continue their series tomorrow. The Purple Knights will host the Ravens yet again in South Burlington, Vermont at Cairns Arena with the Raven's looking to close out their NEWHA regular season with a win and an undefeated run against the Purple Knights. Puck drop is set for 3pm ET.
