WINCHENDON, Mass. (12/5/25) – In the first game of their weekend matchup, the Franklin Pierce men's ice hockey team battled throughout but came up short against visiting Saint Michael's, who controlled key moments on both ends of the ice.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening frame saw both teams testing each other early, but neither could break through. Saint Michael's generated steady pressure, finishing the period with a 24-15 advantage in shots on goal and 45-32 overall.
- The Purple Knights opened the scoring early in the second period, converting on the power play. Cole Douglas worked the puck to Aj Sacco, who pushed it ahead for Ashton Allain. Allain snapped a shot from the circle that found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
- Midway through the period, the visitors doubled their advantage. Kyle Lee fired a shot that ricocheted high into the air, allowing Quinn McCarthy to track it and knock it in to make it 2-0.
- The final frame remained tight until the closing seconds. With the Ravens pressing and the net empty, a miscue at the blue line created an opening for Brayden Naumann, who sealed the game with a late tally.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- Saint Michael's held the edge in total shots, 63-47, and outshot the Ravens 35-25 on goal.
- Riley Mastowski (Jamestown, Pa.) turned aside 32 shots for Franklin Pierce.
