HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless opening period, the Ravens came alive in the second. Less than a minute into the frame, John Sterling (Centreville, Va.) broke the deadlock with his third goal of the season, assisted by Josh Tisdell (Chicopee, Mass.) and Chris Foster (Amherst, Mass.). Moments later, Mario Paganini (Harrison, N.Y.) doubled the lead at 2–0 after finishing a feed from Sterling.
  • Westfield State responded midway through the period with back-to-back tallies from Emile Pichette and Cannon Bonifay to even the game at 2–2 entering the third.
  • Franklin Pierce regained the lead early in the final period when Paganini netted his second of the night just 1:34 in, assisted by Todd Branish (Castle Pines, Colo.) and Austin Pick (Troutdale, Ore.). The Owls tied it once again with a power-play goal at 17:23, but the Ravens had one more answer left.
  • With just 37 seconds remaining, Paganini completed his hat trick on the power play, converting a setup from Giovanni Ursillo (Boise, Id.) and Pick to give the Ravens the 4–3 victory and secure Foley's first win behind the bench.
  • Riley Mastowski (Jamestown, Pa.) stood tall between the pipes, turning aside 28 shots to earn his first win of the season.
INSIDE THE LINES
  • Paganini scored three goals, marking his first collegiate hat trick.
  • The Owls out shot the Ravens 31-14.
  • The Owls succeeded on 2 of 5 power plays while the Ravens went 1 of 6.
