HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first half of the game, despite the Ravens outshooting the Mavericks 10 to 3, Mercy found the back of the net first.
  • On a corner kick, Ancksu Dixon sent the ball into the box, finding Casey Szczotka who drilled one past Jess LaCroix (Nashua, N.H.).
  • After many chances for the Ravens to start the second half, McKenna Maguire (Brookline, N.H.) responded, going one on one with the Mercy goalkeeper off a pass from Mikayla Horton (East Islip, N.Y.), drilling it right past her for the equalizer.
  • With the minutes dwindling down, both teams were in search of the game-winning goal.
  • In the final minute of the game, Maguire crossed the ball over to Olivia Crespo (Ludlow, Mass.) who was able to bury the ball, advancing the Ravens to the next round of the NCAA Division II National Championship.
