RINDGE, N.H. (11/1/25) - The Franklin Pierce volleyball team suffered its third consecutive defeat at home after losing to the Assumption Greyhounds in three sets (14-25, 16-25, 22-25) in a non-conference match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Ravens started the game quickly, getting a 5-2 lead over the Greyhounds. Then, things quickly shifted when Assumption went on two 5-0 runs to get a 10-point lead late in the set. Franklin Pierce's 13 total errors, those being nine attacking errors and four service errors, were the difference maker in the Greyhounds capturing the first set.

Things did not improve in the second set for the Ravens when the Greyhounds got off to a 10-4 lead early in the set. Assumption's Grace Presswood and Lily Petrocelli, the former Raven, led the way offensively and broke through Franklin Pierce's defense. For the Ravens, freshman outside hitter Jayne Hiatt (Granby, CT) and senior setter Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, MA) made contributions offensively to a Ravens team that was without senior outside hitter Katholiki Koukia (Rhodes, Greece). Assumption captured the second set almost as quickly as the first and took a commanding two-set lead.

The third set started rough for the Ravens, who went down 6-0 on the first six serves. However, the Ravens would storm back into the set with senior outside hitter Avery Leblanc (Exeter, RI) heating up at the right time to close the gap. However, the Ravens' best efforts were not enough in the third as Assumption snapped a four-match losing streak, and Franklin Pierce was swept for the third consecutive match.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • Leblanc led the team in kills with eight. Hiatt was right behind with seven, and Lindstrom scored six.
  • Lindstrom and Hiatt also played solid defense and combined for 19 digs.
  • The Ravens' biggest weakness was their errors. They had 22 total errors in the match compared to the Greyhounds' nine.

The Ravens' next match will be against the Saint Anselm Hawks on Saturday, November 8, in Manchester. The match will start at noon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
