Swanson's OT Game-Winner Gives Pierce the 2-1 Victory over Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. 10/8/25 - The Ravens picked up their first conference win of the season in a dramatic comeback fashion away against Mercy University. After going down in the second quarter, a goal from Abigail Tarka (Natick, MA) in the 37th minute and a game winner from Reese Swanson (Somerset, MA) 55 seconds into overtime secured the win for Franklin Pierce.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Ravens came out strong, trading early chances with the Mavericks. Great defensive performances and tremendous goalkeeping from Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands) the the teams scoreless in the first quarter. 
  • In the second quarter, the Ravens' defense came under pressure as the Mavericks struck 8 minutes in through Jessica Evan's who found herself in a great position to draw first blood and have Mercy leading going into halftime.  
  • Despite being down the Ravens never let up bringing pressure and attacking resilience. With 37 minutes played the Ravens got a corner as Delaney Condon (Atkinson, N.H.) fired a shot that was redirected by Tarka into the far corner leveling the score 1-1.  
  • The fourth quarter was similar to the first with great defensive performances from both teams, meaning the score was to be settled in overtime. 
  •  Overtime did not last long as 55 seconds in Aria Caputo (Gloucester, MA) beat her defender and passed the ball to an open Swanson whose shot deflected off the defenders stick and over the goalie's head to complete the comeback stamp the win for the Ravens.

BY THE NUMBERS 

  • Sydalia Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) and Condon lead the team in shots with 4 each.  
  • The Ravens outshot the Mavericks 19 to 12.
  • Noorlag would have 7 saves. 
  • The Mavericks lead the fouls category with 41 to the Ravens 36.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return to Sodexo Field on Saturday October 11th to play Molloy University in what will be their Morgan's Message Game. Game time is set for 12PM.
