HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens started with an early lead in the first set, but the Owls quickly made it a back-and-forth contest. Senior setter Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) started the game with a service ace, then racked up two more kills on the way to an 11-10 score in favor of the Owls. Then, SCSU went on a 9-1 run to take a commanding lead before winning the set.
- The second set was more competitive from the Ravens as senior outside hitter Avery Leblanc (Exeter, R.I.), senior middle blocker Martina Spackova (Bratislava, Slovakia), and sophomore outside hitter Adrianna Reay (Bristol, Conn.) all contributed to the Ravens' offense in a tight back-and-forth set. However, the duo of SCSU's Kerrigan Habing and Sydney Bennett were too much for the Ravens to handle, and the Owls took a second set victory.
- The Owls then dominated the third set as Sarah Henault played outstanding defense and Kimberli Mitchell played great in all phases of the game, nearly earning a triple-double with nine kills, eight digs, and 29 assists. The Ravens could not find an answer and conceded the third set, falling in three sets to the Owls.
- 10 of the Owls' points came from aces, while another 14 came from errors on the Ravens. These proved to hurt the Ravens in the long run.
- Lindstrom finished with nine kills, leading the team. She also finished with 23 assists and four digs.
UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens remain at home for the weekend as they get set to square off against the Assumption Greyhounds on Saturday. That game will be on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at The Fieldhouse.
