HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Franklin Pierce controlled play early and found the breakthrough in the 16th minute. After working down the right side, McKenna Maguire (Brookline, N.H.) sent a pinpoint cross into the box where Maddie Fitzgerald (Whitman, Mass.) rose above her defender and headed the ball into the top right corner for the 1–0 advantage.
  • Roughly 15 minutes later, Mollie Cahalane (Merrimac, Mass.) threaded a through ball to Maguire, who dribbled to the end line and slipped past the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season, extending the Ravens' lead to 2–0.
  • With 10 minutes remaining, Kate McArdle (Holyoke, Mass.) fired a shot from the top of the box that was parried away by the Bengals' keeper, but Cahalane was quick to pounce on the rebound, slotting home the third and final goal to seal the 3–0 win.
  • Franklin Pierce maintained pressure throughout the second half, registering nine more shots while keeping Maine–Fort Kent without a single attempt on target.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
