HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a successful 2-1 win over Post in game 1, the Ravens would carry that momentum into the start of game 2. McKenzie Grimm (Connellsville, Pa.) would strike first for the Ravens, tipping the puck past Hannah Saunders after a pass from Addison Andre (South St. Paul, Minn.).
  • The Eagles would even the score later in the first, when a pass from Jodie Rose would find Rylee Patfield for their first goal of the game.
  • The Eagles would take the lead over the Ravens in the second, when Tallulah Cameron would deliver a shot towards the net, leaving time for Georgia Stevens to find the back of the net.
  • The Eagles would extend their lead in the third period after they went five on three with the Ravens after Lilah Bauer (Monroe, Wis.) got called for cross checking and Jenna Sharland (San Jose, Calif.) for tripping.
  • With a little over 7 minutes to go in the third, the Ravens tried to make a comeback against the Eagles. After Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) left Pierce's goal in return for an extra player on the ice, Hailey Anderson (Greer, S.C.) dropped the puck in front of Andre for a goal to cut the Eagles' lead in half.
  • In the final minutes of the game, Post's Celena Mickevicius would head to the box for a tripping call, giving the Ravens one more opportunity to send the game into overtime.
  • Unfortunately for the Ravens, their offensive pressure would be halted after firing off three shots against Saunders because of a high sticking call on Melanie Targosz (Livonia, Mich.), ending the game for the Ravens in a 2-3 loss.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Ravens had 5 penalties while the Eagles only had 2.
  • Andre led the team with 6 shots.
  • The Ravens outshot the Eagles, 26 to 23
  • Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.) had 5 blocks throughout the game.
