HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens dominated offensively in the first half, setting the tone early and limiting the Spartans to just two shots on goal against Karl Vernet (Miami, Fla.), who made his first start of the season.
  • Both of the Ravens' goals came before the halftime whistle. The opener began with a long cross from Stepan Fiker (Prague, Czech Republic) at midfield, which found Guillermo Rios (Asuncion, Paraguay) in the box. Rios rose above the defense and headed the ball past Spartan goalkeeper Dante Muntane for the first goal of the match.
  • The second goal followed soon after. A well-placed pass from Christian Osuna (Alicante, Spain) found Miguel D'Amico (São Paulo, Brazil) deep in the corner. D'Amico delivered a perfectly timed cross to Dani Almeida (Lisboa, Portugal), who slotted it home to double the Ravens' lead.
  • Although the second half featured equal chances for both sides, it was Almeida's first-half goal that ultimately stood as the game-winner. The Ravens were on track for a clean sheet until a misplayed touch by Vernet allowed Jorge De La Vibora to capitalize and score the Spartans' lone goal.
  • In the end, the Ravens held on to secure another win and continue their strong season performance.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Ravens outshot the Spartans 20 to 12.
  • Vernet made 9 saves.
  • Rios left the team with 6 shots.
