Saint Anselm Overpowers Franklin Pierce Men's Ice Hockey

MANCHESTER, N.H. (1/18/25) – The Franklin Pierce men's hockey team faced a tough challenge against Saint Anselm on Saturday, falling 10-2 at Sullivan Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Hawks dominated the first two periods, scoring seven unanswered goals—two in the first and five in the second—before the Ravens managed to break through.
  • At 15:05 in the second period, freshman Ryan Dutcher (Milford, Mass.) connected with John Sterling (Centreville, Va.) to put Franklin Pierce on the board.
  • Saint Anselm responded with another goal later in the second and added another early in the third before the Ravens struck again. This time, Matthew Frett (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Nick Fish (Ashland, Mass.) set up Giovanni Ursillo (Boise, Idaho) for Franklin Pierce's second goal.
  • The Hawks sealed their commanding performance with one final goal in the closing seconds, securing a 10-2 victory.

INSIDE THE CREASE:

  • The Hawks outshot the Ravens 45-30 in shots on goal.
  • The Ravens went 0-6 on the power play and the Hawks went 2-6.
  • Douglas McGuire (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) posted a game-high five blocked shots for the Ravens.
  • Riley Mastowski (Jamestown, Pa.) suffered the loss in net for the Ravens. He made 16 saves in the first 27:57 before being relieved by Jeff Reda (Larchmont, N.Y.), who made 19 saves over the final 32:03.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The men's ice hockey team will be back in action on Tuesday, January 21st at Post University. Puck drop is set for 1 PM.
