HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Eagles struck first late in the first period with just 2:33 left in the frame. Scotty Swain came streaking down the right circle and buried a wrister to put the Eagles up 1-0. They took the lead into the first intermission.
  • The Eagles added to their lead just 5:47 into the second period. Tommy Buis fed a pass to the left post for Matteo Peca who tucked it home for the shorthanded goal, giving the Eagles the 2-0 lead.
  • The Ravens ended the second period on a positive note, cutting the deficit in half with just 2:34 left in the period. Junior defenseman Douglas McGuire (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) fired a wrister from the left wall that created a loose rebound in front and sophomore forward Cooper Anderson (Marquette, Mich.) picked it up in front of traffic and slid it home. The Eagles took the 2-1 lead into the 3rd period.
  • The Ravens fought hard in the third period, but the Eagles iced the game with an empty netter from Matteo Peca with 1:33 left in regulation.
