RINDGE, N.H. (09/22/2024) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team defeated the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in their first conference matchup of the 2024-25 season. The Ravens defeated the Penmen 4-3.  

RECORDS:

• SNHU: 0-2 (0-1 NE10)  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• The Ravens jumped out to an early 1-0 lead through the doubles portion of the match. Graduate students Joé Herin (Tias, Spain) and Noé Martin (Sainte-Agnes, France) kicked off the action with a 6-4 win at No. 1 which then translated into a win by graduate students Ralph Hiebel (Paris, France) and Junior Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain), who emerged victorious by a 7-5 final at second doubles. 

• In the singles competition, both Martin and Ortiz secured their second win of the afternoon. Martin secured the win in two sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-0 at No. 2. Ortiz defeated the Penmen in three sets with scores of 7-5, 2-6 and 6-4 at No. 4.  

• Junior Orlando Guerrero (Pachuco, Mexico) also contributed a singles win at fifth singles.  

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce continues their stretch of home matches when they host Adelphi Tuesday, September 24. The match is set for 9 AM.
