Women's Soccer Advances to NE10 Semifinals with 2-0 Win Over Assumption 

 

RINDGE, N.H. (11/10/24) - The Franklin Pierce women's soccer team earned a trip to the NE10 Semifinals on Sunday afternoon, putting together a 2-0 win over the Assumption Greyhounds in the NE10 Quarterfinal Round at Sodexo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Ravens knocked on the Greyhounds door for most of the start of the first half. With less than 15 minutes to go in the half, Grace Martin (Millbury, Mass.) secured the ball at midfield from a Greyhounds defender. After a few dribbles, she would send the ball to the foot of Claudia Peirce (Carver, Mass.). Peirce made a move around a Greyhound and shot the ball to the far corner for the 1-0 lead.  

  • In the second half, the Ravens continued to dominate possession. In the 60th minute, Olivia Crespo (Ludlow, Mass.) passed the ball to Peirce who would then take on her defender and pass the ball to Jenni Huttunen (Suomi, Finland) who was at the top of the box. Huttunen tapped the ball through the Greyhounds defender then through the goalkeeper to go ahead 2-0.  

INSIDE THE LINES: 

  • Senior goalkeeper Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.) would earn the win, making 4 saves.  

  • The Ravens out shot the Greyhounds 14-6.  

  • Both teams had 3 corner kicks each.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: With today's win, the women's soccer team advances to the NE10 Semifinals. The Ravens will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between the Saint Anselm Hawks and the SNHU Penmen, on Thursday, November 14. The time of the match is TBD but the Ravens will host at Sodexo Field.
