Volleyball Swept in Straight Sets at Assumption, 3-0

WORCESTER, Mass. (10/3/24) - The Franklin Pierce volleyball team lost three consecutive sets in their defeat against the Assumption Greyhounds on Thursday, marking six straight defeats. 

RECORDS: 

  • Franklin Pierce 2-9 (0-1 NE10)
  • Assumption 5-9 (0-1 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Ravens started with a consistent lead in the first set. However, the Ravens quickly fell behind when Assumption went on an 8-2 run to put the Greyhounds comfortably ahead. The Ravens also committed 7 errors in the opening frame and would lose the set 25-19. 

  • In the second, the negative trends continued for the Ravens as the Greyhounds went on another 6-point run. With five more errors and a fierce Greyhound attack, the Ravens dropped the second set 25-19  

  • The final set of the game was the most competitive, as the Ravens made a late run of their own to keep themselves within two points. However, the Greyhounds pulled away with the victory giving the Ravens their sixth straight loss. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Junior outside hitter Avery LeBlanc (Exeter, RI) and freshman middle blocker Lily Petrocelli (Merrimack, NH) had 8 kills in the match, leading the team and tying for the most kills in the match. 

  • Junior setter Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, MA) led the team in passing with 23 assists. 

  • Defensively, junior libero Julia Felgenhauer (Bolivar, OH) led the team in digs with 13. 

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: 

The Ravens' next match will be at home against American International. The Ravens return to the Fieldhouse to play the Yellowjackets at 7:00 pm on October 8th, 2024.
