SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 13, 2013) -- The Franklin Pierce
University men's lacrosse team dropped a 23-2 decision to
sixth-ranked Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field in
Syracuse, N.Y. The Ravens fell to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the
Northeast-10, while the Dolphins improved to 9-2 and 6-2 in league
play.
For the second-straight game the
Ravens watched as the opposition exploded offensively in the second
quarter. In Tuesday's loss at Southern New Hampshire, the Ravens
were outscored 9-0 and on Saturday they were on the short end of an
11-0 margin.
Andrew Chadderdon scored 36 seconds
into the frame to start the blitz and Kevin Kelly scored four of
his game-high five goals in the period as Le Moyne held a 15-0 lead
at halftime.
The Dolphins were up 18-0 heading
into the fourth quarter before Franklin Pierce finally broke
through with a marker 46 seconds in as Baxter Sukdolak
(Lockport, N.Y.) notched his second goal of the season off
a nice assist from Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.).
Sophomore Kevin Dargin (Littleton, Mass.) was
the other beneficiary of a nice feed from Burnett, as he tallied a
goal with 3:29 remaining to cap Franklin Pierce's scoring.
Kam Bumpus notched three goals to
aid the Dolphins' offensive attack, while Chadderdon recorded four
points with a pair of goals and two assists.
Le Moyne tallied a 51-20 advantage
in shots, while also going a perfect 3-for-3 in man-up
opportunities. The Dolphins also held a 19-10 edge in face offs and
forced the Ravens into 25 turnovers.
Jeff White made six saves in 30
minutes of action to earn the win in in net for Le Moyne, while
Franklin Pierce goalie Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.)
suffered the loss to fall to 4-6 by making just 10 saves on 33
shots faced.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
Wednesday when the Ravens play host to Saint Michael's at 3 p.m. in
Sodexo Field.
