Nate Wood and Jimmy McInnis score twice; Wood has scored six
goals in the last two games

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 21, 2010) – The Franklin
Pierce University men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 8-5
decision at Saint Anselm in Manchester on Wednesday afternoon. The
Ravens dropped their sixth-straight game to fall to 4-6 overall and
1-6 in the Northeast-10, while the Hawks improved to 6-4 and 4-3 in
league play.
Junior attack Nate Wood
(Binghamton, N.Y.) and sophomore attack Jimmy
McInnis (Amherst, N.H.) each fired in two goals to lead
the Ravens' offensive attack, while junior midfielder
John Scanlan (Great Neck, N.Y.) collected his
team's other tally. McInnis assisted on two goals to register
a four-point afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper Shea
Campbell (Centerport, N.Y.) started in net for Franklin
Pierce and made an impressive 15 saves despite suffering the loss.
Ryan McDonald scored a team-high
two goals for Saint Anselm as seven different Hawks scored in the
game. Pat Acone made 13 saves in goal to earn the win.
Both teams traded a pair of goals
in the opening period as it was 2-2 after one. McDonald opened the
scoring with a tally at the 8:40 mark, while Scanlan responded with
a goal just 23 seconds later to tie it at 1-1. Jeff Dunkle put
Saint Anselm back up by a goal at the 6:30 mark, but McInnis tied
the game with his first marker a little under two minutes later.
The Hawks gained the upperhand in
the second period as they scored three unanswered goals to take a
5-2 lead. McDonald, Joe Robichaud and Ryan Henry each scored during
the surge.
The Ravens opened the scoring in
the second half as Wood took a pass from Ryan Dintaman
(Northfield, Mass.) and fired a shot past Acone to pull
Franklin Pierce to within 5-3 with 11:37 remaining in the third
period. However, Saint Anselm regrouped and closed out the third
with a pair of goals to take a 7-3 advantage.
McInnis and Wood each scored during
the fourth period, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks went on
to earn the win.
Franklin Pierce returns to action
Saturday when the Ravens travel to face Adelphi at 4 p.m. For more
